Travelling
There are many ways one can travel to Trier. Please see below for detailed information.
By Rail
Trier Central Station is located near the center of Trier. From there you can easily reach your destinations in the city by foot, bus or taxi.
Intercity and Intercity Express trains will stop at Trier. There are direct and indirect connections, e.g. the hourly Intercity connections from Frankfurt and Cologne or the Intercity Express from Berlin.

By Car
Trier is directly connected to the German Autobahn network. You can reach Trier within 5-7 hours from many cities like London, Amsterdam, Hamburg or Munich.

By Plane
Trier does not have its own airport but there are several international and national airports located around Trier from where you can get to the city within reasonable time.
Closest to Trier is Luxembourg International Airport. From there the Airport Liner Coach will bring you directly to your destination in Trier and back within about thirty minutes.
For private pilots there is Föhren Airport from where you can reach Trier within ten minutes by car.
You can also land at the international airports Köln/Bonn and Frankfurt/Main. From there you can get to Trier by rail within less than three hours – there are Intercity train connections every hour. By car it will you take approximately two hours to get to Trier from there.
Some smaller airports which are also approached by international airlines, are Frankfurt-Hahn, Zweibrücken, and Saarbrücken.
Frankfurt-Hahn will be approached by RyanAir, Belavia, Iceland Express, Wizz Air from various European cities. You can get to Trier by Shuttle Bus or by car in about an hour.
